Duo dies after bike crashes into parked lorry

BINTULU: A rider and his pillion rider were killed after their motorcycle crashed into the back of a parked lorry by the roadside here last night (Feb 22).

The fatal incident happened around 8.30pm at Mile 26, Jalan Bintulu-Miri when the victims aged 28 and 34, were travelling from Bintulu.

The motorcyclist was believed to have lost control of the bike before crashing into a lorry.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the victims were identified as Siswadi and Sutarno from Indonesia, and both were working in an oil palm plantation.

One of them died at the scene, while the other was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Bintulu Hospital.

The lorry driver, on the other hand, was unharmed in the collision.

Alexson said both bodies were taken to Bintulu Hospital morgue for further actions.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
