PADAWAN: Two people were killed in an accident along Jalan Batu Kawah-Bau here this morning.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the 8.25am tragedy involved a car, an MPV and a van.

The car, with two men aged 29 and 37 inside, suddenly stopped and was hit from behind by the MPV.

“The impact caused the car to enter the opposite lane and it was hit by a van.

“The two men, who were trapped inside, were confirmed dead at the scene by Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) paramedics,” said Supt Alexson.

The bodies of the two victims were taken to the SGH Forensic Unit for further action.

Meanwhile, Supt Alexson said the driver of the MPV — a 42-year-old woman — and the driver of the van — a 36-year-old man — suffered minor injuries.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.”
