MIRI: Police on Wednesday detained a local man and a woman after they crashed through the movement control order (MCO) roadblock near Ngu’s junction along the Miri -Bintulu Road in Niah here.

The duo also used foul language and lewd signs against the police personnel at the roadblock.

Fortunately, no police personnel manning the roadblock were injured in the 10.15am incident, said Miri police Chief ACP Lim Meng Seah.

“Both suspects were picked up by the police from a longhouse in Suai Niah around 2pm today (Wednesday),” he revealed.

According to Lim, the suspects were travelling to Bintulu in a black Proton FLX Bintulu.

The case is being investigated under Section 186 and 279 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants from discharging their duties and rash driving.
