PUSA: More than 1,500 durians prepared at ‘Angkara Raja Buah’, the main site of the Digital Rindok @ Pusa programme, were all consumed in almost half an hour.

The durians were provided by the Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture, Indigenous Land and Regional Development Sarawak (Manred) and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) for visitors to enjoy.

Such programme is a local fruit-eating campaign during the durian season in Sarawak.

Many visitors flood the site an hour earlier because they do not want to miss the opportunity to feast on the scrumptious fruit. They were unbothered by the hot weather to celebrate the second day of the programme.

One of the visitors, named Ahap, said the free durian meal was a really fun activity.

“To say that we are ‘thirsty’ for durian is not entirely true, as the King of Fruit is easily accessible and affordable.

“It is just fun to eat in a crowd because we’ve heard of similar activities elsewhere, so when it’s being held in our place, it’s exciting. Thank God.

“However, we are grateful to those who provided free durians and brought such activities here,” he said yesterday.

Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor was present to officiate at the event.

Also present were Manred Permanent Secretary Awang Johari Awang Mustapha, SMA Corporate Services head Mohamad Irtidzar Razali, Pemanca Pusa District Awang Raziee Awang Mohd Zain and Kampung Pusa Penghulu Mahdi Kidi.
