Early CNY cheer for 270 people

BINTULU: Two hundred and seventy people received contributions from the Sarawak Social Welfare Department Bintulu District in conjunction with Chinese New Year celebration at Dinner World yesterday.

Contributions worth RM270,000 were given to the recipients; each received RM100 including hampers worth RM80, while those who could not come would have their money credited to their accounts.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Bintulu Division Resident’s representative Harun Hattar said he hoped the donations would ease the financial burden and cheer up the recipients.

Bintulu Division Social Welfare Officer Sharifah Mordiah Syed Ali said the money and hampers aimed to ease the recipients’ financial burden and also help them in their preparation for the Chinese New Year.

Throughout the whole state, 7,281 people received the same contributions for the Chinese New Year celebration.
