KABONG: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kabong spent two days distributing 996 food baskets to 50 longhouses as gifts for Hari Gawai which will be celebrated on June 1.
Special duty officer to Kabong assemblyman Nur Elffi Amir said today the programme was an initiative by Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir to cheer up the celebration.
He explained that before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, deputy head of PBB Kabong Alwie Sapalie also distributed food baskets to 2,450 homes in 25 villages in conjunction with Hari Raya.
“Even though it is difficult for him to meet the people due to the need to comply with the conditional movement control order (CMCO), such contributions prove Mohd Chee’s concern or the people who will be celebrating Gawai.
“This is proof that the current elected representatives do not leave the people alone when the country is still under movement restriction order.
“Together we pray that Covid-19 in the country and in Sarawak disappears soon,” said Nur Elffi.
The mission to send the Hari Gawai donations was also joined by Kabong PBB vice chief Roslan Bujang as well as the branch committee members.
