KUCHING: Sixty-eight Dayak families from Kampung Sungai Apong Baru and Foochow Road here received daily necessities in conjunction with the coming Gawai Dayak celebration.

The daily goods were handed over by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) with the assistance of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Pending branch.

MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng thanked the Everrise Group for donating the goods to the families.

“This is the fourth time Everrise Group has donated goods to the families in need through MBKS,” a statement said yesterday.

During the handover, Wee also wished the Dayaks “Happy Gawai” in advance and hoped that the public would abide by the standard operating procedures set by the government and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to avoid the spread of Covid-19.

“I also hope the public will continue to practise good personal hygiene and sanitise their surroundings to prevent any infections,” he said.

Present at the event were political secretary to the chief minister, Tan Kai, SUPP Youth secretary-general Milton Foo and SUPP Women chief, Kho Teck Wan.
