Early morning brawlers arrested

MIRI: Nine local men involved in a brawl in front of a bistro at Marina Square early Sunday (November 1) morning have been detained by the police.

The fight was caught on a 22-second video which had gone viral on Facebook since Sunday morning.

All the suspects aged from 20 to 29, including the victim, are being held under police custody at Miri Central Police Station (CPS) for questioning.

Police also seized a 53-cm-long knife and a wooden stick, believed to have been used in the 12.45am altercation.

It is believed that the attack has something to with monetary debt.

The victim of the fight sustained injuries to his face and body.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.
