SIBU: Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and a compact vehicle at Jalan Ulu Oya.

An emergency call was received by the State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre (Bomba) at 2.15am this morning regarding an accident at Jalan Ulu Oya near SK Sungai Merah.

It has dispatched firemen from Sibu Bomba station to the location and found that the accident involved two colliding vehicles.

“According to the operation commander, a MPV and a compact vehicle was involved in a head-on collision. There were five victims in the accident.

“Two victims, the back passenger of the compact vehicle, was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the vehicle was seriously injured while another passenger sustained minor injury.

“Meanwhile, the driver of the MPV was safe in the accident,” said the operation centre.

The injured victims were transported to hospital by an ambulance as firemen cleared debris on the road. The operation ended at 3.50am.
