Early morning fire razes vehicle

BINTULU: A man was fortunate to escape with minor injuries when his four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle caught fire at Mile 27, Bintulu-Bakun road early this morning (July 4).

A team of 10 Bintulu firemen led by PBK II Stephen Plen rushed to the scene when responding to an emergency alert on the incident at 4am.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue department operations centre (PGO), the fire totally destroyed the vehicle.

Fortunately, the 34-year-old driver, a local man, managed to escape from the burning vehicle.

He was taken to Bintulu Hospital for medical treatment.

The operation ended at 5.09am.

As for the actual cause of the incident it is yet to be determined as investigation is underway.
