Early Raya and Gawai cheer for 900 families

MIRI: In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and Gawai festivals in Sarawak, Petronas has contributed RM144,000 food aid to 900 deserving families here via its signature Sentuhan Kasih programme.

The contributions, made through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, Yayasan Petronas, include food essentials such as rice, milk, oil, eggs, canned good and flour.

According to Petronas, the contributions were distributed via the Department of Social Welfare to families in Lutong, Senadin, Kuala Baram, Tudan, Piasau, Kampung Pujut, Padang Kerbau, Kampung Wireless, Riam, Krokop, Taman Tunku and Lopeng.

It is learnt that the recipients also received Petronas Mesra gift cards for the purchase of essential food items from Petronas’ stations in Miri.

“In commemorating the spirit of sharing and giving during these festivities, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide some assistance to the families here whose lives have been affected by the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd-Sarawak Oil senior general manager Morris Mail.

The Sentuhan Kasih programme is part of Yayasan Petronas’ CSR programme that is activated during major festive seasons in Malaysia.
