BINTULU: In an effort to bring early Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and Gawai Dayak cheer to underprivileged families in Sarawak, Petronas has contributed food aid to 1,200 low-income families here and in Miri through its signature Sentuhan Kasih programme.

The contributions, made through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm Yayasan Petronas and principal marketing arm Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB), included essential food items such as rice, milk, oil, eggs, canned goods and flour.

According to Petronas, 200 families in Bintulu received the aid last Friday (May 15), while 900 families in Miri received theirs earlier this week.

The contributions were distributed to the recipients by the Department of Social Welfare on behalf of Petronas and its subsidiary companies, namely Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd – Sarawak Oil, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd – Sarawak Gas, Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd and Asean Bintulu Fertilizer Sdn Bhd.

PDB’s station dealers in Bintulu as well as the Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) project team also assisted in the distribution of the   food aid.
