KUCHING: Samariang assemblywoman Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Syed Aman Ghazali yesterday took 80 orphans and the ‘asnaf’ (needy) group Hari Raya shopping at Mydin Petra Jaya.

She hoped ‘Program Sinaran Aidilfitri’ would cheer the children up and lift the financial burden of the needy families.

This programme is organised annually by Pemuda N7 Samariang before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“This year, there are 110 recipients and Pemuda brought along 80 for shopping and will visit another 30 who live in the Samariang area to personally hand over the aid be it in monetary form, food and many others,” she said when approached by the media.

“This programme, too, is able to help the less fortunate to celebrate the festive season with joy,” she added.

Hasidah pointed out that throughout Ramadan, a lot of programmes such as cooking ‘bubur lambuk’ (savoury porridge) were organised to enliven the holy month.

Also present were Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Samariang info chief Datuk Wan Khalik Wan Muhammad, deputy vice-chairman Cr Badri Shahmat and vice-chairman Shaukat Khan.
