BINTULU: Continuous economic progress is a catalyst for youth entrepreneurship in urban and rural areas.

Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said that young entrepreneurs also need to empower themselves with entrepreneurial education, spirituality, self-identity, unity, and not least, to prepare themselves with the latest technological advancements.

“The spirit and hope of the youth who want to succeed when they see new things; these new industries may have shifted their interests.

“Besides that, it is somewhat due to the good education provided by the government, they are able to see far into the potentials that can elevate themselves to a higher level,” Abdul Karim told reporters during the Coffee Talk programme with young entrepreneurs and youth associations at Salma ADAP Forty Mart stall in Jepak here yesterday.

He added, the convenience and extensive access through social media makes this platform usable to the extent of becoming successful online traders earning millions of ringgit in revenue.

A total of 20 young entrepreneurs from the Jepak and Bintulu areas attended the programme which was also attended by the Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Deputy Minister, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat and Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.
