MIRI: Federal Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek visited teacher Kellian German, 54, who is suffering from kidney disease and presented a hamper and cash donation from Tun Hussein Onn Teachers Foundation (YGTHO).

In a brief meeting in conjunction with her official work visit to Miri, Fadhlina gave words of encouragement to Kellian to persevere in the face of his ailment.

Meanwhile, Kellian, a teacher at SMK St Columba here, was moved and happy with Fadlina’s visit to his residence at Taman Jelita.

The father of four undergoes dialysis three times a week, and even had his leg amputated recently due to diabetes.

He has been on extended leave and has not taught since November 2022.

The Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Ziarah Prihatin programme is organised to help teachers in need.

Miri MP Chiew Choon Man also contributed cash to Kellian. Also present were MoE director-general Dato Kharuddin Ghazali and Sarawak Education director Datu Dr Azhar Ahmad.
