Educational, welfare visit to Langkawi

KUCHING: Sarawak Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) led by its chairman Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang recently made a two-day educational and welfare visit to Langkawi.

According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), there were 20 visitors consisting of the wives of the heads of government departments in the Premier’s Office and the executive committee members themselves.

On the first day, participants attended a batik-weaving class and saw a cooking demonstration of Langkawi’s traditional cuisine at the Langkawi Craft Complex.

The next day, they visited Crab Farm Langkawi where they were briefed on how to raise crabs and ‘latok’ (sea grapes).

Sarawak Women’s MAKSAK adviser, who is the Premier’s wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang joined the visit on the second day.

She also presented MAKSAK Cares’ donation of RM3,000 to Langkawi Autism Care Centre principal, Mastura Abdul Mutalib.

Souvenirs were also presented to the chairman and exco of PUSPANITA LADA who helped a lot in coordinating the visit that opened an opportunity for all participants to gain knowledge in various fields in addition to increasing confidence and self-motivation while interacting informally.
