MUKAH: Seven key elements were outlined by Associate Professor Dr Jeniri Amir in educating children to ensure a school’s success.

These elements are the importance of learning, language communication, reading books, control on social media, rewards for children’s success, affection to encourage success and assist parents- teachers association (PTA).

Dr Jeniri was specially invited to share the best practices in one of the Annual General Meeting slots that were attended by parents and guardians of students of SK Kampung Tellian Mukah recently.

The Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) lecturer stressed that the importance of reading should be nurtured from childhood.

Parents play an important role in nurturing and encouraging reading practices in children as early as possible.

Children also need to be exposed to daily newspaper readings especially the English newspaper as it helps students better to master the language.
