BINTULU: Educators should always be aware of the problems faced by students as well as the form of immediate action that can be taken to help them.

In that context, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the parties involved need to proactively approach, delve into and solve problems and then produce something effective for the benefit of the students.

“It is not necessary to wait for the students to come to us to express the problems they face, on the contrary, we as adults need to understand the reactions, or body language of the students.

“If you see that they are not normal as usual, then immediately approach them, dive in and help them out of trouble,” he said in a speech read by his Special Officer, Steven Kong Kai Seng at the Kidurong National Secondary School (SMK) Appreciation ceremony for the school’s 25th anniversary at a leading restaurant here, yesterday.

In addition, Tiong, who is also a Member of Parliament for Bintulu, advised the school management, including the educators, to always take proactive and effective initiatives in implementing the trust they are responsible for.

“We need to be creative and innovative in delivering services to students despite the constraints and challenges. Always remember, no matter how difficult the obstacles and challenges are, they can definitely be overcome if we all join hands and are always united,” he said.

“I am also very open and anyone who needs me is welcomed to do so in order to jointly strengthen educational institutions and empower human capital development.

“Indeed, it is my dream to see our children continue to succeed in the future, because they are the backbone of our country one day,” he added.

The Bintulu District Education Officer, Samri Suhaili, the principal of SMK Kidurong, Mordiana Nawi, the President of the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) of SMK Kidurong, Tero Bayel and the School Liaison Officer of the Bintulu district police headquarters (IPD), ASP Johnny James Bujang were also present.
