EFC marks 5th anniversary with military parade

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Eastern Field Command (EFC) celebrated its fifth anniversary yesterday with a military parade at the Muara Tuang Military Complex here.

Seventy-eight officers and 1,067 military personnel took part in the parade which was officiated by EFC Commander Lieutenant General Datuk Wira Zamrose Mohd Zain.

The formation was led by the 10th Battalion Officer in Command, Lieutenant Colonel Anuar Ahmad and Second in Command Parade Commander Major Ejau Ajot.

Also present were First Infantry Division Commander Major General Datuk Md Din Abu; Brigadier General Datuk Haji Kamarol Fauzi Mohd Said; and Task Force 450 Commander Major General Datuk Mohamad Khir Abdullah.

In his speech, Zamrose said, “The establishment of EFC here is to serve as Malaysia’s line of defence against enemy threats. In order to accomplish this, EFC needs to be superior.

“There is a lot of progress in the development of EFC. I urge the commander to practise the regimental system in their formation.”

Zamrose also emphasised the welfare of ATM personnel and families and the need to beef up the discipline of ATM personnel.

In conjunction with its 5th anniversary celebration, EFC provided the children of military personnel with Bestari bank accounts to encourage them to save.

Also present were members of the Armed Forces Family Welfare Body (Bakat) and army veterans.

EFC, which covers Sarawak and Sabah, was set up on March 31, 2014.
