Effort to help stateless children reflects concern

KUCHING: Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali is all for the state government’s effort to assist stateless children have access to education and health.

As such, the Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) said she welcomes the move to issue temporary documentation to eligible stateless children.

She was referring to Women, Childhood and Community Well-being Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah’s recent announcement that the office of the Premier of Sarawak will be issuing them temporary documentation.

“The Sarawak government is very concerned about the issue of stateless children in Sarawak.

“Thus, I very much welcome and support the state’s effort to help stateless children so that they can get access to education,” she said.

Sharifah Hasidah said this when met by reporters after officiating at a bubur lambuk distribution programme at Masjid Darul Ibadah at Kampung Samariang Lama here on Sunday.

The Samariang assemblywoman said a total of 80 containers of bubur lambuk and dates were handed over in four villages in the Samariang constituency.

The villages are Kampung Semariang Lama, Kampung Semariang Pinggir, Kampung Semariang Batu A and Kampung Semariang Batu B.

“The distribution of bubur lambuk during the month of Ramadan is always encouraged as it reflects our concern for the villagers.

“Apart from contributing to those in need, it will benefit the community not only financially but also to get together and strengthen their relationship through communal work,” she added.
