KOTA PADAWAN: Many residents in the Mambong constituency are still waiting for their title deeds years after their Native Customary Rights (NCR) land had been surveyed.

Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil who is aware of the problem said the relevant authorities were now paying attention to the matter and would hasten the process.

“We will make the effort to release the deeds as soon as possible,” he said after handing over appointment letters to community leaders at the Padawan sub-district office here.

Jerip, who is Deputy Transport Minister said that of the 60 Bidayuh villages in the constituency, only 13 have not had survey work done on their NCR land.

“Which means 70 per cent have done so but of these, only four villages have received their title deeds.”

However, Jerip reminded the most important thing is to ensure villagers get their NCR land surveyed under Section 6 and Section 18 of the Land Code.

Apart from ensuring the right to the land, it will also avoid disputes on land boundaries between villagers, he added.
