Eight arrested for vice activities

BINTULU: Eight individuals, including six foreign women, were arrested for suspected involvement in vice-related activities in a hotel here during a raid dubbed Ops Noda, conducted between 4.30pm and 7.30pm last Saturday (Oct 17).

The women, aged between 22 and 30, and two local men, aged 29 and 59, believed to be customers, were arrested by a team of Bintulu Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel.

Bintulu district police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said that based on information, the suspects (foreign women) were believed to have used internet applications to lure in customers into subscribing to sexual activities with certain payment packages.

“In the raid, the team seized various items such as 38 pieces of condoms, two sex stimulants, three notebooks and two bottles of lubricating gel.

“Apart from that, they also confiscated six mobile phones, RM210 cash, a hotel room card and several hotel receipts,” he said in a statement.

According to Zulkipli, all of the suspects are being investigated under Section 372B of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to one year, or liable to a fine or both, if convicted.

The foreign suspects will also be investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 for failing to produce any valid travel documents during the raid.
