KUCHING: Eight undocumented Indonesian immigrants were deported back after their attempts to enter Sarawak illegally in the past three days were foiled.

The First Infantry Division disclosed the first incident happened in the Balai Ringin sector last Thursday.

A patrol team managed to detain two Indonesians who were seen trying to enter Sarawak. Inspections found that the duo were from Kampung Jangkang, Indonesia.

“Meanwhile the second incident occurred in the Tebedu sector on Friday when an army team detected five Indonesians trying to sneak into Sarawak via a rat trail (jalan tikus).

“Inspections found the group from Entikong, wanted to head to Kuching for work purposes,” a military spokesman said.

The third incident happened yesterday at the Serikin roadblock post, where an Indonesian was spotted walking towards the post.

Inspections found the individual did not have a valid identity document and wanted to head to Kuching for work purposes.

All the foreigners, who were considered as illegals, comprising seven men and a woman, were then deported back to their country after police reports were lodged.
