Eight slapped with compounds

KUCHING: Police have issued a total of eight compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Kota Samarahan recorded seven compounds and one in Miri.

Apart from that, the Ministry of Local Government issued 101 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

On the SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,291 premises throughout Sarawak.

These include 281 restaurants, supermarkets (125), hawker stalls (118), banks (99), public markets (78), places of worship (60), leisure places (38), government offices (16), construction sites (16), factories (14), and others (446).

Under Ops Benteng, a total of 1,475 vehicles were inspected through seven roadblocks in six districts — two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
