Bau police arresting the suspect for allegedly selling illegal lottery numbers in front of an eatery.

BAU: Police here arrested an elderly man on suspicion of selling illegal lottery numbers along Jalan Datuk Salau yesterday.

Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the ‘Ops Dadu’ arrest was made in front of an eatery in town around 2.45pm.

“The team detained the suspect for inspections as he was believed to be working as an illegal lottery number sales agent.

“Also seized is the suspect’s phone and a SIM card,” he said.

The 58-year-old suspect along with the seizures, were taken to the police station for further actions.

Poge noted that the man who did not have any past record, will be investigated under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.

If convicted, the suspect is liable to a fine up to RM200,000 or, a jail term up to five years.
