Elderly escapes house hit by landslide

KUCHING: An elderly woman escaped unharmed after her house was hit by a landslide at Kampung Sungai Apong here last Sunday (Oct 18).

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, a team of firefighters of Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the scene after receiving a call on the incident.

Upon arrival at 8.50pm, the landslide had damaged the structure of the house, and the 61-year-old woman had managed to get out safely.

The firefighters assisted the victim in retrieving several of her important documents and personal belongings while personnel of Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), who were also present at the scene, checked on nearby electricity poles which were affected by the landslide.
