KUCHING: An elderly woman sustained a minor head injury after she was robbed by an unidentified suspect at Kampung Tabuan Foochow No 1, here on Sunday.

The 70-year-old victim, believed to have suffered a bump on her head, was brought to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment.

Kuching district police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said that his department received information from the public at 7.23pm on the incident.

“My personnel rushed to the scene and found the victim injured while the suspect managed to escape.

“The identity of the suspect is yet to be known and the victim is receiving treatment at the hospital,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code.

Sources told that the victim was living alone in her house and her belongings were stolen by the suspect.
