MUKAH: A plantation security guard died from severe injuries following a two-vehicle collision along KM9 Jalan Mukah-Balingian today.

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the accident involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle happened around 6.30 am.

The crash occurred when the pickup truck driven by a 37-year-old man was involved in a collision with the victim’s motorcycle that was exiting from the Kampung Jebungan junction.

“As a result, the victim identified as Mura Kimik, 75, sustained severe injuries to his face and legs and was later pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“His body was taken to Mukah Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.

The impact of the crash also caused the victim’s motorcycle to burst into flames and Mukah firemen were summoned to extinguish the fire.

Rizal said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
