
SIBU: An elderly man was killed after crashing into the back of a vehicle in Jalan Dr Wong Soon Kai here on Wednesday (March 16).
Acting Sibu OCPD Supt Dr Collin Babat said the victim was identified as Kho Eng Keng, 71, from Brooke Drive 22.
He said police received a call regarding the accident at 9.15am. “We received information that there was a fatal road accident involving two vehicles, namely a motorcycle and a car.”
He added: “The victim was riding his motorcycle from the traffic lights of Jalan Dr Woon Soon Kai and Jalan Pahlawan towards the town centre.
“When arriving at a junction to a supermarket, the victim was believed to have hit the left side of a vehicle that was entering the junction.”
Supt Collin said that as a result of the collision, the victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.40am by medical staff from Sibu Hospital.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
