LUNDU: A fatal incident claimed the life of an elderly male motorcyclist while attempting a U-turn at KM3.5 on Bau-Lundu Road near here.
Lundu District Police Chief, DSP Damataries Lautin said that the accident took place at around 5.22 pm, involving a 69-year-old man riding a motorcycle and a 27-year-old man driving a Perodua Myvi car.
“Preliminary investigations at the scene indicate that the victim, travelling from Sematan towards Bau, attempted a U-turn in an area where it was not permitted.
“Tragically, while executing a right turn, the victim was struck by the Perodua Myvi car approaching from behind,” he said.
Medical personnel from Lundu Hospital pronounced the victim dead at the scene of the accident.
Fortunately, the driver of the Perodua Myvi car did not sustain any injuries.
The case is currently under investigation according to Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
