Elderly woman loses RM1,200 to snatch thief

MIRI: Police are searching for a man who snatched an elderly woman’s purse at Lorong 3, Pujut 2C last Sunday morning.

The skinny suspect, who is approximately 160 cm tall, has a scar on his right cheek. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and black hat.

According to Miri Police Chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the woman, Wong Siu Kwong, 70, and her husband were about to head to the market when an unidentified man approached her.

She had just closed her house gates and entered the car when the man showed her picture of a house on his phone and asked her where the house was.

According to Lim, the man told the elderly woman that his wife worked there and he wanted to send food to her.

After that, the suspect immediately snatched the woman’s purse and fled on an unumbered black motorcycle.

In the purse were an Identity card, RM600 and Brunei $200.
