Electricity supply to premises cut off

PADAWAN: Eight premises in the district here had their electricity supply cut off after they were found to be involved in gambling activities on Friday. 

District police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, in a statement, said the operation was carried out from 10.15 am to 2.30 pm.

The operation by five personnel from Padawan Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) was conducted at the premises in Batu Kawa, Mile 10, Kota Sentosa, Siburan and Matang Jaya areas.

Zainal explained that the action to cut off the electricity supply to the premises was made in accordance to Section 21 (A) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.

All the premises were previously raided by the police for being involved in gambling activities.
