KUCHING: The director of Lands and Surveys, Sarawak has assured that land titles at Kampung Tematu and Kampung Semeba will be issued to the eligible landowners.

Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang stated this in response to comments by Abdul Aziz Isa of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) on the lack of land titles at the two Bidayuh villages.

Abdul Aziz recently said that these two Bidayuh villages in Batu Kitang had been without land titles for over 20 years.

Lo explained that he had personally worked hard to ensure that the villagers were given the land titles they deserved.

He added on August 17, last year, he went to meet with the director of Lands and Surveys with community leaders Penghulu Hajjah Sabtuyah, KK Thomas Gowen from Kpg Semeba, and KK Geoffrey Tahang from Kpg Tematu.

“The director has told us that land titles will be granted to eligible landowners. I have been an assemblyman for the last five years while KK Thomas has been there for two years and KK Geoffry for over a year.

“Despite our limited time, we have attempted to resolve any issues that the Batu Kitang constituency encountered. However, we cannot address all issues in a month because each issue brought to our attention is critical,” said Lo.

He added that there was no point for Aziz to tell them to do what they were already doing.
