Emphasis on urban transportation: Fatimah

KUCHING: Sarawak needs urban transportation development, said Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah(pic) after chairing a press conference on Reef Ball Deployment plan here yesterday.

“We need to emphasise this for us to be a developed state by the year 2030”, she told reporters who asked her about yesterday’s minor Cabinet reshuffle which was announced earlier on by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg.

In the reshuffle Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin was promoted to the post of Transport Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas was appointed Second Minister of Finance, replacing Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh who had resigned.

She believed that the reshuffle is to further enhance the state’s efforts to attain a developed state by 2030. Regarding Wong, she expressed her gratitude for all that he had done as part of the state’s administration for so many years.

She described him as an experienced politician who had contributed a lot to Sarawak and Sibu, in particular as Second Finance Minister in terms of development.
