KUCHING: Thirty entrepreneurs from Penrissen including some established enterprises will be attending a one-day entrepreneur workshop at the Parish Hall of St Paul Church, Bunuk in Jalan Puncak Borneo on Saturday (19 Dec).
Themed ‘Towards Empowering Penrissen Bidayuh Entrepreneurs’, the programme will feature five speakers sharing their experiences in their respective fields with the participants.
Motivational speaker and author of ‘Peeling Your Onion’, Dr Frank Kiong is among the invited speakers at the workshop.
Among the other speakers are e-commerce platform Timogah.com chief executive officer Heineken Laluan and a representative from Joeyees Trading Sdn Bhd & Joeyees Ventures, which is famous for its original local ‘Nang Ori’ products.
Transport Assistant Minister and Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil is expected to officiate at its closing ceremony and presentation of certificates to the participants.
Persatuan Usahawan Bidayuh Penrissen (PUBP), which is the organiser of the workshop, said the response was overwhelming but due to the Covid-19 pandemic and in compliance with the standard operating procedures, participation is limited to only 30 persons.
“We’re sorry because we cannot accommodate more. But, we have more activities planned for next year. Hopefully, by then, we will be from the Covid-19 pandemic and more people will be able to join our events,” said its chairman Jores Sidek.
He said PUBP, which is a non-profit organisation was established with the aim to provide training and services for the Bidayuh entrepreneurs in Penrissen.
It is a platform for Penrissen Bidayuh entrepreneurs to forge strategic alliance, professional networks and exchange ideas as well as to promote principled, knowledgeable, innovative and progressive Bidayuh entrepreneurs, he added.
Jores said God willing PUBP was looking forward to organising Penrissen Entrepreneurs Expo and a special programme to recognise successful Penrissen Bidayuh entrepreneurs next year.
