KUCHING: Sarawak E-Sports Association (Sesa) hopes to empower the electronic sports (e-sports) industry in the state with the completion of its mini E-sports Hub at D-Virtual Park, Kota Samarahan.

Federal Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the hub is one of the initiatives by the association with Serba Dinamik IT Solution Sdn Bhd, which is in response to Sarawak’s digital economy agenda and in line with the development of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

“The facility has an area of 7,000 square feet equipped with 60 gaming computers, six streaming rooms, two console corners, one discussion room and one open event management space,” he explained in the Dewan Rakyat session yesterday.

Sesa will be the first state electronic sports association to have its own electronic sports facility.

“With this opportunity and support from the Youth and Sport ministry from both the federal and state levels, it will be in line with our association’s mission to develop the e-sports industry in Sarawak and create more job opportunities for our local talents,” said Sesa president Afiq Fadhli Narawi in a statement.

Afiq also hoped that the initiative would become an example for other e-sports associations to follow.

“Sesa intends to give honour to our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to launch the mini e-sports hub in the near future,” he said.
