KUCHING: More Malayan-based political parties should emulate Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) by assisting Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the coming Sarawak State Election.

In saying this, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Information chief Datuk Idris Buang was referring to Bersatu’s recent remark that it was prepared to assist its political ally GPS to face the coming state polls.

“While it is good to have Bersatu assisting the GPS in the coming state polls, I hope ‘the help’ does not mean that it will contest against us in the election.

“We (GPS) hope United Malays National Organisation (Umno) and other Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties including Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) will also not disturb GPS or stand in the state election,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted on Sunday (April 4).

Idris, who is also the Muara Tuang assemblyman, added Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the Bersatu president, had been kind to Sarawak and was aware that Sarawak was well taken care of by GPS.

“Therefore, we welcome the help from Bersatu to assure that the GPS has the solid support and big majority in the state election,” he added.
