LAWAS: The Muslim community has been urged to emulate the traits of Prophet Muhammad; whose exemplary character helped unite the ummah.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said unity and solidarity must not be taken lightly as they are important elements in developing the country.

He said this when officiating at a district-level Maulidur Rasul celebration held at Dataran Lawas yesterday.

Awang Tengah added that this year’s celebration themed ‘Negara Rahmah Ummah Sejahtera’ was very significant as it reflected a multiracial society living together in peace and harmony.

Nearly 2,000 people from various government agencies, statutory bodies, uniformed organisations, non-governmental organisations, schools and private sector participated in the gathering and procession around the town.
