SIBU: Students must be encouraged to do community activities during their student life.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling said schools should not solely focus on the curriculum because knowledge is about learning to be part of the community and the general environment.

“Students need to be taught to have an interest in the community…because real learning is found both in the classroom and outside. They have to be taught that their real challenge in life will be outside, therefore they should be given enough lesson to adapt to community activities and living,” he said at SMK Deshon Certificate and Prize Giving Ceremony yesterday.

Hosting the MP was school principal Nicholas Bamphield.
