KUCHING: The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) has developed evaluation criteria for two awards, namely the Industry 4.0 Award and the Sustainability Award, for the national-level Mini Team Excellence Innovation Showcase (MTEx) 2021.

“This is one of MPC’s efforts to encourage organisations to implement digital transformation and to improve awareness in preserving the environment,” said MPC deputy director-general Datin Zainon Bakar at the virtual launch of MTEx 2021 on Thursday (July 1).

She explained that efforts to improve the innovation process would benefit organisations greatly.

It would also help improve employee morale, knowledge, skills and talents.

“Organisations will benefit in terms of waste reduction, increased customer satisfaction and ultimately, increase profitability as well as productivity.”

MTEx is a platform that brings together all innovation project initiatives covering Innovative and Creative group (ICC), Quality Environmental Practices (QE/5S), Lean Management, industry 4.0 and other productivity improvement and innovation programmes at organisational level.

“In this current situation, the emphasis on productivity improvement and innovation initiatives becomes very important and a determinant to the sustainability of an organisation.”

Aligned with the Digital Economy Blueprint initiative, she emphasised the importance of implementing innovation process improvement projects that would lead to the digitisation and adaptation of industry 4.0 elements.

“This is a game-changer today that allows organisations to achieve higher impact through a quantum leap.”

The virtual convention attracted more than 688 participants from 56 groups representing 33 organisations from all over Malaysia.

Participants got to present their innovation projects, and Zainon said: “I’m sure the projects would inspire other organisations to step up their innovation initiatives.”

She added: “The programme this time also managed to record value creation of RM125mil from 56 innovation projects.”

Successful groups will be selected to compete at the Regional Innovation Showcase on Team Excellence (RISTEx) in August.

For the Sarawak region, the RISTEx programme will be held on Aug 25 and 26.
