KUCHING: Standard operating procedure (SOP) for all eatery outlets, including cafes and restaurants, that requires them to only allow 50 percent capacity in their premises for dine-in, will be enforced from this Sunday.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the Local Government and Housing Ministry had issued a tightened Food Sector SOP that must be adhered to by all premises owners and operators located in red zones.

SDMC also said it was ready to handle any possible flood situation due to the monsoon season, expected to occur early next year.

“SDMC has presented to all Disaster Management Committees at the divisional and district levels guidelines for operations of flood victim evacuation to temporary evacuation centres (PPS) and PPS Operations in the new norm.”

On compounds issued to errant individuals who did not comply with SOP in public places, the police had issued 34 compounds, namely 28 in Kuching, three in Miri, and one each in Padawan, Kota Samarahan and Betong.
