KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, his deputy Hilmy Othman, and MBKS councillors yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Consulate of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) here.

The visit signifies Kuching’s commitment in preserving and upholding the existing strong bilateral relationship with PRC. The mayor and his team of councillors took the opportunity to make some contributions to assist the affected victims of the Covid-19.

On hand to receive them was deputy Consul General of PRC, Zhang Yang.

During the visit, Wee expressed words of encouragement on behalf of the people of Kuching to China. He reiterated Malaysians’ stand, to render support in appropriate ways, and to work hand in hand with every concerned parties to overcome the epidemic.

Wee also expressed condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families, and commended on the great efforts shown by the Chinese government and provincial authorities in dealing with the Covid-19 epidemic.
