MIRI:  Miri Mayor Adam Yii has assured that there is sufficient food supply in the district.

“Mirians should not worry about food shortages. We have no issues at this point. Our supermarkets here have plenty of food supply and the amounts are adequate for everyone,” he added.

Yii stated this yesterday before visiting Tamu Muhibbah with Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

Starting today, seven Tamu here have been allowed to operate daily from 7am to 2pm only.

They are Tamu Muhibbah,Tamu Khas,Tamu Kadayan,Tamu Dato Hj Ahmad Lai, Luak,Tamu Morsjaya,Tamu Taman Tunku and Tamu Pujut Corner.

“These Tamu are localised and help us to disperse the numbers of customers so that we have smaller crowds in a particular location,” Yii explained.

He said 80 per cent of the public were aware of the need for social distancing when shopping for essential items.

“Most of the public are aware and comply. We have asked the supermarkets and markets to rearrange the social distancing measures,” he added.
