KUCHING: The Sarawak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) today has given the assurance that there is a sufficient supply of wheat flour in the state this festive season.

Its director Datuk Stanley Tan said two major flour millers in the state, namely, Sarawak Flour Mill Sdn Bhd and FFM Grains and Mills, had informed the ministry that their supply of wheat was sufficient for the next three months.

“We have been informed that the production rate of these two millers is at 3,000 metric tonnes a month to meet the demand of Sarawakians this festive season where the shipment of stocks is being made throughout the state,” he said in a statement today.

He said monitoring and inspections at all levels – manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers – will be further enhanced to ensure adequate supply of goods, especially controlled items, at all times.

“As of April 29, we have inspected a total of 15,872 business premises and recorded 407 cases, seized goods worth RM2,443,476.38 and issued compounds totalling RM85,650,” he said. – Bernama
