Ensuring a Covid-19-free Sarawak

KUCHING: The Sarawak goverment is persistent in its efforts to ensure the state is free from Covid-19.

According to the latest statement issued by the State Disaster Management Committee, actions taken to mitigate the spread of the virus into Sarawak included the enforcement of a few immigration policies.

“All foreigners (irrespective of nationalities) who have been to China, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, South Korea, Italy and Iran in the past 14 days will be refused entry into the state.

“All Malaysians (non-residents of Sarawak) who have been to these places in the last 14 days are also strongly advised not to visit Sarawak,” it said.

The statement also mentioned all Sarawakians and Sarawakian PR, Work and Student Pass holders who had been to China, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, South Korea, Italy and Iran in the last 14 days must undergo compulsory home quarantine for 14 days.

It also advised all visitors from affected countries such as Singapore, Indonesia and Japan to adhere to precautionary guidelines issued by the Sarawak Health Department at all points of entry.

There is no known Covid-19 infection in Sarawak thus far.
