SIBU: The dilapidated Entering Longhouse here is being rebuilt. The old longhouse is at least 50 years old and its residents originated from the Pasai River.

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan chairman Robert Lau officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new longhouse recently.

Lau and his entourage being warmly welcomed by the longhouse residents upon their arrival at the site.

Also present were Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Daniel Bujal, SUPP Bawang Assan branch deputy chairman Tan Ching Teck, secretary Jason Tay, councillors from Sibu Municipal Council and Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC).

The entourage led by Lau, who is also deputy chairman of SRDC, also took the opportunity and time to listen to the concerns and needs of the residents.
