SIBU: Entertainment centres here have strictly adhered to Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs), according to the authorities.

Sibu police crime prevention and community safety division head DSP Ariffin Bahar had led an integrated operation to inspect SOP compliance under the National Recovery Plan Phase 4 for entertainment premises on Monday night.

“No entertainment centre was compounded during the operation.

“This means that they are fully complying with the established SOP guidelines,” he told the media on Tuesday (Feb 15).

According to DSP Ariffin, his team inspected three karaoke centres and three music cafes around midnight and neither the premises nor the customers inside flouted SOP rules.

The operation, he added, involved about 100 policemen from the Sibu Sentral, Sungai Merah, Lanang and Sibu Jaya police stations.

“A similar operation will also be carried out tonight (referring to Chap Goh Mei).”
