KUCHING: Datuk Ir Dr Dennis Ganendra has been appointed as an International Fellow by the British Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE).

According to a press statement Wednesday (Sept  20), Dr Ganendra holds the distinction of being the sole Asian among the group of eight international fellows chosen this year.

The statement highlighted that this fellowship represents the highest honour conferred by the RAE and is a testament to Dr Ganendra’s outstanding contributions to the field of engineering.

“The recognition recognises his commitment to and continuing high deliverables in innovation, infra-structure projects, policy and academic advancement.” 

Dr Ganendra boasts a distinguished track record, holding fellowships in several prominent institutions, including the Institution of Civil Engineers in the UK, the Institution of Engineers (IEM) in Malaysia, the Institution of Highways and Transportation, the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), and a Climate Action Fellowship with the UN Global Compact – Network Malaysia.

Furthermore, Dr. Ganendra serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Minconsult Sdn Bhd, a renowned engineering consultancy firm in Malaysia, and he is also the founder of pioneering renewable energy contractor, Timeless Green Sdn Bhd.

His extensive experience, spanning over three decades, encompasses a wide array of multidisciplinary engineering projects, many of which have earned accolades both locally and internationally.

“His visionary execution and nation building initiatives continue to shape the industry, benefitting societies through transformative change,” the statement said.

In his appointment, Dr Ganendra joins an illustrious cohort of international fellows, a distinguished group that includes luminaries such as Steven Chu FREng, a Nobel laureate in Physics from Stanford University; John Hennessy FREng, the former President of Stanford University and a pioneer in Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC); and Frances Arnold FREng, a Nobel laureate in Chemistry affiliated with Caltech.
