KUCHING: The various challenges that Rafur Halim has faced during his more than 10 years in business has enabled him to survive and thrive until now.
His tenacity is also thanks to his wife, Faezah Jainudin, who has always been a source of encouragement to him to persevere no matter what till success is attained.
Rafur, who started selling keropok lekor (fish cracker snack) in 2005, now sells beverages and burgers.
On sales and marketing, he said that social media, especially Facebook, has helped his business a lot as it has enabled him reach out far and wide.
“I started marketing through Facebook in 2018. Alhamdulillah, the response has been very good,” he said.
Rafur said he intends to share his experiences with new entrepreneurs or anyone who is just starting a business.
“I want to help those who are interested in business. It is not true that those who don’t have higher education cannot achieve economic success in life,” he said.
Rafur, who is a former computer maintenance instructor at a private college, revealed that he also ventured into various businesses including selling perfumes from 2014 to 2018.
“Actually, I started doing business when I was still in school. Back then I sold drinks with my family at the State Stadium in Petra Jaya.
“Most of my family members are in business. Perhaps, that’s the reason why I naturally got attracted to business,” he said.
