Fire victims in Kampung Bintawa Hulu receive the essential items.

KUCHING: The fire victims in Kampung Bintawa Hulu here have received essential items to ease their burden.

Santubong MP Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said his service centre presented the assistance immediately after the fire incident.

“I would like to thank the coordinating officer of Santubong Parliament Service Centre for swiftly extending the assistance to the fire victims,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Nov 15).

He said among the items presented to the families were food baskets, mattresses, pillows, blankets as well as towels.

“I hope many more parties will come forward to lend a helping hand to these victims and I pray that the victims remain strong as they face this challenge,” he said.

Wan Junaidi also expressed his sympathy to the victims and was thankful that no casualties were reported in the incident.

Five houses in Kampung Bintawa Hulu were gutted in an early dawn fire on Saturday (Nov 14) while two houses were slightly damaged.

Firefighters from Petra Jaya, Padungan and Tabuan Jaya fire station, who were despatched to the scene, managed to put out the blaze at 5.12am.

It was reported that 35 residents were affected by the morning inferno.
